About the weekend

We invite you (and your interested friends) for all or part of the weekend to our second live meeting for all people who are curious to know more about the Oasis Ecovillage project in Denmark. The event will be held at the home of Kristiane and John in Jystrup, Denmark from October 20-23 2017. Please let us know if you will be coming (or consider to come) ASAP, so the practical parts of the event will run smoothly.

Focus of the weekend will be equally shared between getting an experience of sharing everyday life together with tasks to be done (cooking, wood for the fireplaces, cleaning etc), relating to each other (sharing and listening to each others dreams, skills and concerns), producing results (Learning sociocracy & transitioning the initiating group into working groups, develop our businesses, refining our vision and mission and statements, the SMART COOP model, providing information, decisionmaking) and relaxing and having fun.

Practical Information

Meeting will be held at Kristiane and Johns home in Jystrup, Denmark.

We start Friday with “Meet and Great” at 5 pm (Food throughout the weekend will be 95% or more vegan). We finish Monday at 4pm. If you can only make it part of the weekend, try to come from the beginning.

If you need to arrive earlier or depart later due to flight schedules etc, please let us know ASAP.

We have 4 bathrooms, 1 guest room with a double bed, one guest room with 3-4 single beds, one with two single beds and there is a sleeping couch in our meeting room, all with pillows and duvets. First come, first serve. Please bring your own sheet, duvet cover, pillowcases etc. Besides that we can provide one double air mattress and another mattress and a 4 person tent. There is space for tents in the back yard next to our lake and garden.

We encourage you to download and read the first 5 chapters of  Creating a Life Together by Diana Leafe Christian. The subtitle is “Practical Tools to Grow Ecovillages and Intentional Communities”.

During the weekend all participants will share practical chores. We have gas cooking and a wood stove and a garden with some vegetables. Please bring your apron if you like to cook and if you have a favorite knife you are welcome to bring that too.

Our house is about one hour from Copenhagen Airport and accessable by train and bus 20 meters from our doorstep. From Copenhagen take the train to Roskilde (or Ringsted). Bus 240 from there to Jystrup (get of at the corner of Skjoldenæsvej and Jystrup Bygade). Cost of a ticket with train and bus is 73 DKK with a travel card, which may be purchased in the ticket automate by the luggage delivery in the airport or at KBH H. Ask us for more details if you need it. We may be able to arrange some pickups at the airport depending on the number of guests and arrival times. Price by car for each trip will be 200. There will be adequate parking for those traveling by car at the church, 100 meter from our house.

Our cost for food and utilities will be around 100 DKK per day per person. A donation that covers our costs for the days you attend may be sent by mobile-pay to Trine on phone number 26247667. If you don’t have mobile pay, please bring your donation to the event.

Kids are welcome.

We like the weekend to be pet free, since we also do workshops here and want to make the house welcome for allergic people as well.

Please bring or send your favorite sing-along songs, so we can create our own songbook as we go along. We have a freshly tuned piano. Other instruments are welcome 🙂

We are 10 minutes walk from a bathing lake. We have a boat in our lake in the back yard. Please bring clothes for walks and other out-door activities.
